The world goes mobile. As data (statisa.com) shows, more and more people access the internet through a handy device. The amount of mobile users worldwide is forecasted to increase by 15.2% in 2020, compared to 2015.
It was in August 2016, when the global market share of mobile users (smartphone and tablet) outperformed the market share of desktop users for the first time. This trend was mostly driven by users in Asia and Africa.Like often, Europe remained a late bloomer.
The increase of mobile users in Germany and Switzerland nowadays accelerates even further. While there were 43.65mn mobile users in 2015, the amount of smartphone-surfing people is expected to increase to 63.24mn in 2020: an increase of 44.9%. A similar pattern can be witnessed in Switzerland: an increase from roughly 42% of additional mobile users in 2021 compared to 2015.
The numbers only confirm what the average commuter can observe just by looking around in the subway: Mobile surfing is gaining in significance every day. There is no way around it and this trend will be even stronger on the old continent, Europe. Make this fact work for your business. B&M
